Management Skills Exploration Zone

client:
BT

project:
Management Skills Exploration Zone

the brief:
BT had designed a management-training course to be delivered in a lorry, which opened out into a training room with multiple screens.

They had already designed a full day’s Management training with activities and wanted a number of short videos to introduce the trainers and explain each activity. – And they wanted it in the style of the Crystal Maze.

iceni's pre-production:
We commissioned a composer to write a track similar to the theme of the Crystal Maze and ‘tweaked’ the pre-written script to include some phrases appropriate to the theme.

As well as the wording, we also suggested that we film short clips of the presenter ‘larking about’ which would be shown during each of the activities as happens on the actual programme. To aid this, we bought a harmonica and a jews harp!

the shoot:
The shoot took place on a cold Sunday with a 7 o’clock start. Jason Bradbury was presenting and he really got into the role! His experience of presenting the live breakfast show on the Trouble Channel was evident when improvising and performing to the cameras.

The camera adopted a handheld style, zooming in and out during the presenter links, bringing some movement to what would otherwise be a relatively static programme.

the edit:
The edit was very simple as we were simply putting the best takes to tape and adding a 2 second freeze frame at the start and end of each video for the technicians.

the event:
The video was used in Management training workshops nationwide.
