Conference at Sun City

iceni was back at the fabulous resort of Sun City in South Africa to produce a second successful themed conference event there in as many years. Key members of the iceni team flew out to the venue and, with local agents, produced a conference that was hailed a roaring success.
brief:
Following on from the massive buzz created by the 2003 South Africa Conference, the client decided to do it again in 2004 - and this time make it bigger!
Their marketing and conference events department commissioned iceni to create the promotional media for the announcement of the incentive travel event, then deliver the training day, and produce a highlights video for the delegates to keep as a souvenir.
creative strategy:
Safari was the theme of the event. With 135,000 acres of beautiful National Park on the doorstep of the conference facilities, the team brought the wild inside. The stage with its centre screen and striking theme wowed the delegates and prepared them for a day of top class training.
This event was to feature testimonials from some of the delegates many of whom had not spoken in front of such a large audience before. iceni staff were on hand before the event to provide speaker rehearsals, inviting each speaker to take the stage during the set up day allowing everyone a chance to get accustomed to the lights, sound and cue system.
On the day itself the event ran smoothly, with introductions from the Managing Director and Deputy Managing Director, and passionate speeches form key members of the network. The iceni crew provided a live camera feed to the main screen and recorded each speech for use in future training material.
In the morning breakout session the crew interviewed members of the audience to get live feedback on the event and training they had received so far, as well as their reactions to the fabulous venue.
The conference day ended with a motivating speech from one of the networks 'stars', then the delegates were off for drinks in the sumptuous Palace hotel grounds.
With the conference over, our crews filmed the delegates as they enjoyed the fantastic facilities at one of the top conference destinations in the world. We talked to key personnel and delegates throughout the week to find out how they qualified for the fantastic incentive travel event. The comments, against the backdrop of the African landscape made powerful viewing for inclusion in the Client's promotional and recruitment programmes.
The delegates were treated to 2 dawn safaris during their stay. The iceni crew joined the groups to collect fantastic footage of the delegates spotting the big five in the wild - the delegates saw giraffes, rhinos, zebras, lions and elephants during their stay in South Africa, and iceni was on hand to capture their reactions.

Back at the studio, the director sorted through the conference and activity footage to create a colourful highlights video, sent to each of the delegates; a souvenir of a once in a lifetime trip and a motivational tool to help encourage their teams to aim for the next incentive travel event.
iceni produced an interactive CD-ROM featuring video and images from the incentive travel event for each of the delegates. Each disc included a diary and video clips from the conference delivered in a colourful branded interface. As a motivational tool, the CD-ROM also had qualification details, and video clips for the next incentive travel event in Sydney.
