Licensing your Corporate Video
February 3rd, 2012 in Insight, Video Production Posted by kimAt the end of every project it is my responsibility to gather together all of the project information so that I can ensure that every video is licensed correctly. Music is licensed through MCPS – the Mechanical Copyright Protection Society.
To licence the any music these are the key things you need to know –
• Catalogue CD No.
• Track No.
• Track name
• Duration of the track used
• Composer
• Copyright owner
The majority of the time it works out at £40 per 30 seconds of music for a corporate video, but this does depend on what sort of video we have produced and how it is going to be shown / distributed.
Once you have licensed your video it is important to keep a hard copy of your licence so that you can refer back to it if necessary.

Here at iceniTV, we carefully research all of the music for every project. We have a team of people who work together to find the perfect track(s). To do this you have to make sure you understand the creative, understand what the purpose of the video is, and understand who is going to watch it.
